Apply for Scholarships and Awards

All your scholarships. All in one place.

We offer a variety of scholarships and awards to support you in reaching your academic, experiential, and professional goals. If you are interested internships, research opportunities, or study abroad, we encourage you to apply. SBS also provides awards for outstanding academic achievements and scholarships for need-based emergencies.

AcademicWorks is UMass’ tool for awarding scholarships and awards. Opportunities are offered on the University, college, and departmental levels. This tool uses your Spire data to learn more about you and your academic interests. Once it knows your class year, your major(s), and more — it will create a specialized list of opportunities for you. Sometimes it’ll automatically apply for you! For other scholarships and awards, you’ll need to provide additional materials like an essay, or a resume.

Set Up: Complete or update (each fall) the General Application and your College Application(s). With the General Application submitted, the Financial Aid Office or others are able to auto-match you with any relevant opportunities. You will be notified if you qualify.

Next Steps: AcademicWorks will generate a list of “recommended opportunities” based on what it knows about you from Spire. You should read each award to see if the opportunity is a good match. With the General and College Applications complete, the rest of the process is streamlined. Any additional materials you are asked to submit will be unique to the particular award.
